WELLINGTON, July 22. Mr R. P. Heathwood’s statement about the visit of a New Zealand crosscountry team to Australia was referred to Mr H. McCormick, secretary of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, who said he_ was at a loss to understand the first part of the message. Mr McCormick said that Mr Heathwood had been advised that the team was being sent, and a reply had been received from Mr Heathwood. { The second part of the message was correct, and the position was known by the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. It had been pointed out at the last meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association that members of the New Zealand team, if successful, would be unable to take the honours.
