The Rev. G. B. Hinton left yesterday afternoon for the North Island on account of the illness of a relative.

Mr Justice Oallan will be appointed permanently to the Supreme Court Bench on July 31, when Sir Alexander Herdman retires (says a Press Association message from Wellington).

The Rev. D. D. MacLachlan, of Waikaka Valley, arrived in Ashburton yesterday afternoon to succeed the Rev. W. Marshall as minister, of the Tinwald-Lagmhor-Flemington Presbyterian charge. _ Mr MacLachlan will be inducted on Thursday afternoon, and will be welcomed at a. social function in the evening, following a tea in the parish hall.

With a distinguished career in the Congregational Church of Australia, and a long record of welfare work, the Rev. Arthur C. Nelson arrived by the Aorangi to take charge of the Beresford Street Congregational Church, Auckland. The new minister who is succeeding the Rev. A. V. Whiting, will be inducted on Thursday. Mr Nelson is accompanied by liis wife and. son. Mrs Nelson is a great granddaughter of the Rey. Mathew Henry Dodge, founder of the Port Adelaide Congregational Church, and is herself a keen worker in the interests of the Congregational Church.
