HOCKEY.
VISIT OF THE INDIAN TEAM. ARRIVAL FROM THE SOUTH. The Indian hockey team which will play against a, Mid-Canterbury; men's team in the Ashburton Domain tomorrow afternoon arrived in Ashburton from the south this afternoon. The visitors were met by the management committee of the Sub-Assoc! afci m and welcomed to '.he town. The secretary of the Sub-Association (Mr S. M. Cassidy) stated this morning that the match would bo played whatever the weather. Every endeavour was being made to have the ground in the best possible condition for play. It was noped that the rain would clear lefore to-morrow, but the fixture would be held even if heavy rain was falling. The Mid-Canterbury team is as follows: „ , , . . Goal: C. Childs (St. Stephen's). Backs: G. Kelly (Baring Square) and A. C. Vincent (Ashburton). .Half-backs: L. Snell (Ashburton), H H. Pearce (Ashburton, captain) and k! Oliver ('Baring Square). Forwards: M. Lees (St Stephen's), N. Willis (Ashburton), K. G. Fowke (Baring Square), I. Stevenson (fat. Stephen' t)% and H. Haiycr (AthburA civic welcome will be extended to the visitors at 2 p.m. to-morrow by the Mayor (Mr W. H. Woods) and the match- will start at 2.15 o'clock.
