OBITUARY.

MR TIMOTHY HURLEY. A resident of the Ashburton County for well over 50 years, Mr Timothy Hurley died to-day at the age of 85. He was well known in the Seafield district, where he farmed for many years. Born in Ireland, the oldest of a big family, Mr Hurley came to New Zealand at a fairly early age, and settled at Seafield more than 53 years ago. He sold his property there about 20 years ago after having farmed it successfully for a considerable period. His next pastoral venture was on the Lagmhor Road at Tinwald, where he lived until 12 years ago, when he came to live in retirement in Ashburton. His residence was 106 Eton Street. A kindly and generous man, Mr Hurley was connected in an official capacity with the St. Patrick's Day Sports Association early this century. He was a loyal member of the Ashburton Catholic Church. His wife predeceased him by some years.
