THE DAVIS CUP CONTEST.

AUSTRALIA PLAYS NEW ZEALAND

(United Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, May 9. The draw for the tennis match Australia versus New Zealand in the first round of the Davis Cup contest is:— Saturday—Crawford versus Andrews; McGrath versus Stedman. Monday—Crawford and Quist versus Stedman and Malfroy. Tuesday—Crawford versus Stedman; McGrath versus Andrews. The singles will begin at 2.30 and the doubles at 2.45. New balls will be used for every seventh game. Play closes at 7 in the evening unless the captains agree that the light justifies continuance. Stedman was selected first, and Andrews only after playing Malfroy to-day. H. C. Hopman, correspondent of the “Sun-Herald,” says: “I took part in the New Zealand doubles’ practice, and found Andrews the best.”
