THE WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION. ENTRIES FOR COAIPETITIONS. Nine teams have been entered in the senior grade and five in the junior grade of the Ashburton Women’s Hockey Association’s competitions, ■which will commence on Saturday. The executive met last evening, the president (Air E. Davidson) presiding. After careful consideration, it was decided to conduct the senior competition on a handicap basis. This innovation was considered to be the best method of ensuring an even contest, and will no doubt make for bright play. Handicaps are as follow : —Mount Somers four goals, Lowcliffe three, Kereone, Rakaia, Baring Square and Alethven two each, Old Girls, Tinwald and Hinds scratch. In the event of new players being registered by any club, the -executive retained the right to review the handicaps. The arrangement of matches for the King’s jubilee holiday oil Monday' was left to the town members of the executive. Draw for Saturday. The draw for Saturday is as follows: Senior Grade —Alethven v. Tinwald, at Ashburton, at 3 p.m.; Rakaia v. Baring Square, at Ashburton, at 3 p.m.; Kereone v. Old Girls, at Rakaia, at 3 p.m.; Lowcliffe v. Hinds, at Hinds, at 3 p.m.; Alount Somers, a bye. Junior Grade —Methven v. Tinwald, at Tinwald, at 2.30 p.m. ; High School v. Hinds A, at Hinds, at 1.45 p.m.; Hinds B, a bye.
WOMEN’S TOUR OF AUSTRALIA,
WELLINGTON, April 30., At the 27tli annual meeting of the New Zealand Women’s Hockey Association to-night, it was stated that the women’s team to tour Australia in July was expected to be announced by June 1. Airs J. H. Poulter, of Wellington, was appointed manager. It was decided to ask the Fiji Women’s Hockey Association to send a team to New Zealand in 1936.
