MEAT PRODUCERS.
NEW MEMBER OF BOARD. (Per Press Association.) _ WELLINGTON, April 30. . The appointment of Mr A. S. Holms, of Waimahaka, Southland, to-the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, was announced by the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. C. E. Macmillan) following a meeting of Cabinet this afternoon. . Mr Holms succeeds Air David Jones as Government nominee on the board, Air Jones baying resigned following Ins appointment as a member of the Executive Commission of Agriculture.
Air Holms is the owner of Waimahaka Estate, Southland, and is well known throughout New Zealand as a kieedei of Romney sheep and Hereford cattle. Sheep from the stud have won many trophies at agricultural shows and have been exported to South America East Africa, the Falkland Islands, and Australia Mr Holms was born at leviot Station, Southland, in 1873, and was educated at the Otago High School. He .has been on the Waimahaka Estate ever since leaving school. Air Holms served during the war with the Alurihiku Mounted Rifles, with the rank of lieutenant. He has judged Rcmnney sheep and Hereford cattle at the Royal Show of New Zealand, and at most ot the leading shows in the Dominion.
