AUSTRALIAN TOUR OF AFRjCA. THE TEAM ANNOUNECD. . SYDNEY, April 29. The chairman of the Board of Control, Mr Oxlade, announced that the Australian cricket team for the South African tour would be:— V. Y. Richardson (South Australia). C. V. Grimmett (South Australia). S. J. McCabe (New South Wales). W. A. Brown (New South Wales). J. H. Fingleton (New South Wales). A. G. Chipperfield (New South Wales). W. J. O'Reilly (New South Wales). W. A. Oldfield (New South Wales). H. I. Ebeling (Victoria). L. S. Darling (Victoria). E L. McCormick (Victoria). L. O'B. Fleetwood-Smith (Victoria). B. A. Barnet (Victoria). L. E. O'Brien (Victoria). The captain, vice-captain, and manager will be appointed in September, and the team will leave in the same month.
MERRITrS FINE PLAY. LONDON, April 29. Playing in the Lancashire' League, W. E. Merritt (the New Zealander) made 47 runs not out and took five* wickets. j>
