TINWALD CASH, CLUB. 18-MILE ROAD RACE. ! The Tinwald Cash Cycling Club held another of its series of iroad races on Saturday afternoon, the course being three circuits of the six-mile Wakanui block. Thirteen riders faced the starter and set off over roads which were inclined to be heavy on account of loose shingle. Placings were as follow: T. Digbv (2|min), 3Qmin 55sec ... 1 C, C. Clarke (scr), 49min 15seo ... 2 J. Metcalfe (scr), 49min 15 l-ssec 3 C; Gluestein (lmin),'somin 25'sec ... 4 G. Johnston (4min), 53min 29seo ... 5 Fastest time was secured by Clarke and Metcalfe filled second place, l-ssec behind. AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS. WELLINGTON, March 24. The first official track championships of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association were held at Petone on Saturday afternoon. The 10-mile New Zealand championship was won by R. Ulmer (Wellington), with G. R. Giles (Christchurch) sgcoucl'. A large field contested the 1000 metres championship, which was won by J. Wade (West Coast). M Byrnes (Auckland) was leading at the bell lap, when his tyre came oft and he fell, breaking a collarbone and injuring some ribs. He was taken to the Wellington Public Hospital. ; The winner of the 1000 metres time trial championship was F. J. Grose (Christchurch). , , .. J. Burk (West Coast) won the haltmile junior championship.
