SCHOOL SPORTS.

TECHNICAL v METHVEN. Cricket teams and swimming teams from the Methven (District High School journeyed to Ashburton yesterday for the annual contests with teams from the Ashburton Technical High School.The sports were keenly contested, Technical winning the cricket and swimming and Methven being successful in the tennis. Details of the contests are as follow' : Swimming. The swimming relay w r as closely contested in every lap. The Technical School won by a yard. The teams w r ere: Ashburton—Margaret Sheehan, Stella Hitchens, Daphne White, Norma Valentine ; Methven Joyce Campbell, Margaret Morgan, Natalie Campbell, Jean Campion. Tennis. Methven won the tennis match by six games to three. Details are as follow' Methven names being mentioned first:— Singles— Campbell 6, Alice Hawkins 0; Jean Wightman 5, Marion Rogers 6; Freda Dalton 6, Dorothy Rooke 0; Clarice Fleming 6, Velma Reddidliffe 5; Margaret Campion 1, Arlette Griffen 6; Mavis Shearer 6, Rona Cimson 5.
