The safe of tlie railway station, and the strong-room of the Borough Council were blotvn with gelignite by a robber or robbers, who entered the premises at Upper Hutt on Sunday night or early this morning. In both cases doors jammed owing to an overcharge of gelignite being used, and the total haul amounted to about 10s in stamps and money, which were stolen from the council office. Had the thief managed to open the railway safe he would have found no money, hut the strong-room at the other building, which is only about 200 yards away, contained a fairly substantial sum.
