RESIGNATION OF APPOINTMENT* ■■(■ ■■;•■': ' WOMAN AT LEAGUE OF NATIONS. LONDON, March 7. Mrs Margery Ashby has resigned her position _as substitute delegate League of Nations'in view of, the Government's White Paper m armaments. Mrs Ashby is president of the International Alliance of Women for Suffrage and Equal Citizenship, president of the British Commonwealth League, and president of the National Union of Townswomen's Guilds. • ~ CHALLENGE TO LABOUR AMENDMENT TO CENSURE MOTION. . LONIDON, March 7. In the debate in the House of Commons on Thursday on Britain's defence proposals, Sir Austen Chamberlain will submit an amendment (backed by all the Parties supporting the Government) to Labour's censure motion. The amendment declares: — " That the House of Commons, faithful to the country's obligations as a member of the League of Nations,' desiring the limitation of armaments by international agreement, recognises that these objects are unobtainable by unilateral disarmament, and approves of the Government policy as equally necessary for the defence of 'our. own people and the discharge of oitr international obligations." . '
