The growing Communist menace in Calcutta industrialism is reflected by an order issued by the Bengal Governinent to-tlay declaring illegal 13 organisations involving many thousands of workers, The ban (includes inland steamships, dockers, tram and railway unions and the peasants' country party. Widespread searches have been made in the city, arrests effected and documents seized. ; ' Many recent local strikes are believed t ohave been instigated by Communist organisations.
