ATHLETICS.
HINDS AMATEUR CLUB. Mr A. Annett presided at a meeting of the committee of the Hinds Amateur Athletic Club, held on Saturday night. It was decided to have the printing done as for last year. A slight alteration was made in the dancing events, altering the 12 and under 16 events to read 12 and under 17 years. The under 16 events were altered to under 17. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs and Miss MacGregor for medals dohated for the dancing events. A discussion on side-shows resulted in a decision to have two, or three run for the club at the annual sports, and the decision of former years to allow no outside showmen on the ground was confirmed.
An offer to do the catering was accepted on favourable conditions, and the tenderers were thanked for the offer of a cake for the club. A letter was received from Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P., offering special prizes for piping "Barren Rocks of Aden," for the married ladies' race, and for a tug-of-war, East v. West of the Railway, teams to be selected on the ground. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to, the donor.
The usual sports night dance was decided on, details being left to a later meeting. A motion was passed authorising the secretary to simplify the issue of official badges by keeping two or three colours only. Mr E. J. Bowes was added to the committee.
It was decided to hold, the next meeting on Thursday week.
