SYDNEY, November 9. Showing remarkable accuracy in a high wind the American professional golfers won the three foursomes against Australia at the Lakes course to-day. Results: Laffoon and Wood defeated W. Bolger and Spence, 5 and 4; Runyan and Cooper defeated Stewart and Richardson, 6 and 5; Shute and Diegel defeated Naismith and Cohen, 7 and 6. The Americans, who outclassed their opponents, were rarely off the fairway and covered the pin with their seconds. Laffoon and Wood played dazzling golf. The singles will be played to-morrow. CENTENARY CHAMPIONSHIP. DRAW FOR THE FIRST ROUND. ,! The draw for the Centenary Championship, which commences with the first round next Thursday, includes a very substantial proportion of the leading golfers of the world. Among the names that appear are Gene Sarazen, Paul Runyan, Leo Diegel, J. Kirkwood, Bert Hodson, Densmore Shute. In the first round the New Zealand players, A J. Shaw, J. Lambie, and E. S. Douglas haye drawn A. V. Rae, a brilliant young Victorian, J. B. Ferrier, and A. Gaz-, zard respectively. 11l the second round A. J. Shaw is drawn with A. J. Jupp, and E. S. Douglas is drawn with C. Connors.
