SPARROW SHOOTING.

NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP. CHRISTCHURCH, August 10. The annual sparrow shooting championship of New Zealand was held to-day at Leeston. There were 52 nominations. The birds were very lively, and shooting was difficult, many good shots dropping out after several misses. The conditions were 21 birds off the 21 yards mark. Scores : 0.. Seddon (Hamilton) 19 S. G. Glennie (Gisborne) 19 W. J. Doyle (Ellesmere) 18 J. Stiven (Balclutha) 18 A. Anderson (Oxford) 18 O. R. Ogier (Christchurch) 18 Murray Pratt (Otorohanga) 17 Se«idon and Glennie divided first and second prizes, taking £35 each. They shot-off for the championship at four birds, Seddon killing all with the first barrel and Glennie missing three.
