AGAINST DOCTORS' ADVICE.

EXPIATING FOLLOWERS' ACTS. (United Press Association— Copyright). CALCUTTA, August 8. Mr Gandhi began a seven-day fast at Wardha, near Bombay, at 6 a.m. yesterday, in expiation of assaults committed bv his followers on orthodox Hindus during his recent campaign against untouchability. _ Doctors report that Mr Gandhi is badly run down, that his heart is weak and that generally he is unfit to undertake the fast. Doctor friends tried to persuade him to end the fast, but Mr Gandhi said that his decision was irrevocable.
