RADIO LICENSE FEE.
NO REDUCTION TO BE MADE, (Per Press Association). , CHRISTCHURCH, June 1. The radio license fee of 30s will not be reduced for the balance of this financial year, according -to a statement made to-day by the Postmaster-Gener-al (the Hon. A. Hamilton). ■ It had been suggested by radio dealers that there might be a reduction or the fee by 3s, which up to June 1 was paid by Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia) Ltd., in payment for patent rights, but which since that date had become an extra charge on the license holder. . . From to-day, payment ot royalties on radio sets is to be made on the basis of the number of valves, whereas in the past, the sum of 3s was deducted tor this purpose from every annual license f GO* The Postmaster-General, when approached, telegraphed the following ie ply to the Press :—“lt is not intended to reduce the radio license fee for tlie balance of this financial year.”
