METHODIST CHOIR.
—<£»- LONG SERVICE RECOGNISED. The annual meeting of the Baring Square Methodist Church Choir was held on Thursday evening, the Rev. G. B. Hinton presiding over a gpod attendance. The secretary (Mr W.. O. Bishop) presented a report of the year’s activities, which included special music given on the occasion of the annual church functions, as well as at the Christmas, and Easter festivals. There had also been visits to the Ash our ton Public Hospital and Taurangi Home. Tho chairman commented on the report, and also thanked the choir for its able assistance. Eulogistic reference was made to the long and faithful service of Mr H. A. Humphreys (choirmaster) and Mr J. W. Baker, who had served over 28 years as choirmaster and about 33 years as a member respectively. , „ The .balance-sheet showed a small credit balance. ' The following officers were elected: — President, the. Rev. G. B. Hinton; choirmaster, Mr H. A. Humphreys; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. C. Bishop; general committee, Mesdames A. Black, B. Dobbie and J. P. McLeod, Messrs W. H. Higgins (chairman), R. Wishart and L. Stone; social committee, Mrs A. P. Warriner (convener), Misses A. McKenzie and N. Bishop, and Mr H. Kelly; librarian, Mr W. Corbett and assistant; special organ fund committee, Mesdames A. Black, B. Dobbie, W. R. Fcatherston, A. P. Warriner, L. ’Stone and J. P. McLeod, Miss F. Hardy, Messrs W. H. Higgins (chairman), W. C. Bishop (secretary and treasurer) and H. A. Humphreys. At the conclusion a social hour was spent, and supper served by the ladies.
