TUG-OF-WAR.
TOURNAMENT AT RATtAIA. A meeting of supporters of the Rakaia Football Club was held in the library to arrange a tug-of-war tournament ip aid of the club’s funds. _ It was decided to hold the tournament in July. The following officers were appointed: Patron, Mr J. Connolly, M.P.; judge, Mr B. McNamara; timekeepers, Messrs J. Beard and. O. E. Hooper; starter, Mr F. Crum; referees, Messrs P. McNeil and E. Duncan; honorary surgeon, Dr. It. A. Bagley; blackboard stewards, Messrs A. Smith and A. Nicol; clerks of scales, Messrs H. Conway, J. T. Smith and R. Baker; committee, Messrs L. L. Street (chairman), H. Evans, J. E. O’Reilly, G. Cromie, O. Oliver, C. Garrigan, R. Tatterson, W. Moore, R. Harrison, J. Lawler, T. McKinnon, A. Woodill, A. 0. Mead, W. S. Shannon, A. Doig, L. E. Street,
R. Breach', F. Colgan, 0. Dgyison, A. Doig, B. Doig, W. Tatterson and R. Cornelius; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. B. Breach; executive committee, Messrs G. Cromie, J. F. O’Reilly, H. Evans, R. Breach and G. Tatterson. It was decided to have two classes in the —55 stone and catchweight.
