PERSONAL.

The Governor-General (Lord Bledisloe) and 1 Lady Bledisloe went into residence in Auckland yesterday. Daily in February Lord Bledisloe and Lady Bledisloe will leave Auckland in the Government steamer Matai for the Bay of Islands in order to be present at the celebrations at Waitangi on February 5 and, 6. Subsequently their Lxceilencies propose to sail in the Matai, which will he engaged in her periodical visits to lighthouses in the coastal area of North Auckland. The Matai will call at some centres in the district which their Excellencies have not yet visited. About the middle of February their Excellencies will return to Government House, Auckland, where they expect to remain in residence during .the autumn.

The Prime Minister (the Rt. _Hon. G« W. Forbes) passed through Ashburton by car on Saturday afternoon on his return from a tour of the South Island. He was a passenger for ton on the steamer' express on Saturday night.
