The appeal by H, Gray against the decision of' the licensing cbmmittee of the Now Zealand Racing Conference in declining to grant him a trainer's license, was to-Qay dismissed by the conference appeal judges. The appeal, as made, was against the decision of the Licensing Committee, notified to Gray by the secretary of the Conference, in a letter dated August 1, as follows: "I am instructed by the Licensing Committee to inform you that your application for a trainer's license for the 1933-34 season lias been refused and under these circumstances you are not eligible to be employed in any stable." The appeal judges appointed to hear the appeal were Messrs A. T. Donnelly, of Christchurch, C. Louisson, of Palmerston North, and C. G. Russell, of Wanganui. Their judgment was as follows: After hearing the appellant, this appeal is dismissed, upon the ground that the appellant, having been convicted of assault, is a person excluded from all racecourses under Regulation 3 (e) of the regulations made and passed by racing clubs under Section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908. The appellant has applied to the Executive Committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference for exemption from the operation of such regulations and his application for exemption will come before that committee in October. If the application for exemption is granted, it will be open to the appellant to make a fresh application for a trainer's license.
