ILLEGAL ART UNION
DISPOSAL OF MOTOR-CAR. TWO MEN FINED TWO POUNDS. THE. DISPOSAL OF TICKETS. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. As a sequel to the motor-car art union recently conducted in aid of St. John Armbulance at Wellington, two men were prosecuted this morning for selling tickets and committing breaches of the Gaming Act. William Thomas Charles Worthley and Stephen F. Willard, both of. Wellington, pleaded guilty and were fined £2 each and costs by Mr E, D. Mosley, S.H. The police said that attention had previously been drawn to the fact that a prosecution was possible. The sale of tickets had stopped, but the two defendants came from Wellington in July and continued the. disposal of the tickets. The Minister had not granted permission for the raffle as the Act did not allow him to do so.
