BUILDING SUBSIDY.
DUNEDIN APPLICATIONS (Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, September 13. Tde fact that building operations costing £351,000 are contemplated ,n Dunedin is revealed by the applications nt the local office of the Labour De~ nartment for assistance under the Unemployment Board's subsidy scheme. The announcement that no further requests would be received after Tuesday last "resulted in a rushot applications during the final tTfree days, and m that period no fewer applications were lodged, the work represented being valued at £97,000. The total number of applications received is 815. The Unemplovment Board has so far approved of work being undertaken in 437 crises. The buildings to be erected include 214 new houses. MANAWATU FIGURES. PALMERSTON NORTH, Sent. 13 The total applications iu Palmerston North under the building subsidy are 473, of which 212 have been approved to date. The figures include 107 new dwellings of which 74 have so far been approved. The estimated cost of all approved works is £80,575, including labour £22,528, oli which the subsidy is estimated at £8894. On the closing date no fewer than 58 applications were received.
