VATICAN PROTECTS JEWS. CHRISTIAN CHARITY DEMANDED (United Press Association—Copyright). (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) -LONDON, September 12. The British United Press correspondent at Vatican City says that Germany, besides ratifying the Concordat, pledged herself to carry out. the. Papal memorandum insisting that there be nojracial discrimination against Jews who are baptised into Christianity. The memorandum also demanded that Jews be treated with humanity, in accordance with the principles of Christian charity. ONLY ONE WAR DECLARED. AGAINST UNEMPLOYMENT. BERLIN, Sept. 11. The Minister of Propaganda (Herr Goebbels) told the People's League for German Culture, "We want peace founded on justice; we have declared only one war—that against unemployment."

AN INVITATION DECLINED. MANY FAMOUS MUSICIANS. (Received This Day,. 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, September 13., The "Daily Herald" states that Herr Furtdangler (the State conductor of Prussia) has invited many famous musicians, including Jews whom the Government has promised special protection, to perform in Berlin, but all except Hofman (the Polish pianist), who is living in America, refused. Those invited included Casals (Spanish 'cellist), Cortol (French pianist), Hifberman (Polish violinist), Schnabel (Austrian pianist), Horowitz (Russian pianist), Fritz Busch (conductor) and Kreisler (violinist). The Egyptian violinist, Menuhin, said he would be glad to perform under the conductorship of Bruno Walter, who recently lost his job at Berlin because he is a Jew. MOLESTING OF FOREIGNERS. SEVERE PENALTY THREATENED. BERLIN, Sept, 11. Herr Hess (deputy chief of the Nazis) threatens mqst severe punishment of anyone molesting foreigners. He asserted that Marxists are seeking to compromise the Nazis by urging them to attack foreigners. A meeting of 15,000, whereat Maitres Torres, Horo and Giafcrri declared that Torgler was innocent, and that Captain Goering himself was the incendiary of the Reichstag, passed a 1 resolution denouncing "the parody of justice prepared at Leipzig, where, the guilty are arrogating to themselves the right to judge victims. The French people refuse to place confidence in a partisan magistracy."
