HOCKEY.

THE SIX-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT ARRANGEMENTS AT METHVEN A mooting of the eommittoe of the Metliven Women's Hockey Club was held last evening, the president (Mrs G. Johns) presiding. The president reported that she had been in rommunicaticn with,Mr H. W. Rogers (president of the Canterbury Hockey Association) and had arranged for him to visit Methven on Thursday, September 14, to give a lecture on the game. It was decided

to invite all interested to be present. The secretary reported that she had received 34 entries for the six-a-side tournament to he held on Saturday. It was decided to accept entries up till tomorrow. it was also agreed to supply tea and biscuits to players on the ground, gratis. The secretary also reported that the Canterbury and Ashburton Hockey Associations wore arranging for referees and this assistance was accepted with thanks. A letter was received from the Metliven Domain Board granting permission for a “closed day” on Saturday. The secretary reported that arrangements for the dance to be held in the evening were well in hand. It was agreed to supply tea to all visiting players staying for the dance at a nominal charge. It was reported that the Metliven Croquet Club bad agreed to allow the use of its pavilion as a dressing room for players. The following teams will represent the Metliven Ladies’ Club in the tournament
