CONCILIATION PROCEEDINGS. RATE OF WAGES AT ISSUE. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. An unusual situation arose in the Conciliation Council proceedings this morning Avhen Mr J. Roberts (assessor for the Christehurch Saddle, Harness, Collarmakers' Union) declined to enter into an agreement on the basis of a rate of wages of Is 9d an hour for journeymen. Mr Roberts resigned his post as assessor, and a new assessor was hurriedly sent for, following which a full agreement was reached, other union assessors agreed to the employers' offer of Is 9d. which Mr Roberts declared was ridiculous.
