UNFAIR COMPETITION ALLEGED, (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, August 1 9. Protests against unfair competition with which legitimate picture theatres had to cope, owing to travelling icinemas, announced as industrial exhibitions and by certain organisations associated with schools and religious bodies, were made at the half-yearly conference of the New Zealand Motion Picture Exhibitors' Association to-day. The action of the executive in endeavouring to bring tins kind of competition under control was endorsed. The matter of theatre licensing and a recent decision of the Supreme Court relative to an Order-in-Council limiting the number of theatres in any one locality were reviewed at some length. It was decided to co-operate with the Government iiu any reasonable movement to prevent overseating in any locality without the fullest inquiry.
