HOCKEY.
WOMEN’S COMPETITION. THE DRAW FOR SATURDAY. The following is the draw, together with referees, for the women’s hockey matches to bo played on Saturday:— Senior A grade—Methven v. High School, at, Ashburton (Mr S. W.Gower); Kereone v. Hinds, at Hinds (Mr W. G. Middlemass). * Senior B grade—Baring Square v. Lauriston, at Lauristow, 2.30 p.m. (Mr A. R. Edwards); Ashburton y. High i School Old. Girls, at Ashburton (Mr W. B. Thomas); Rakaia y. Springburn, at Springburn (Mr W. C. Bishop). THE MEN’S ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the management committee of the Mid-Canterbury Men’s Hockey Association was held on Monday evening, the president (Mr E. M. Gabites) presiding. It was agreed to accept August 19 for the match against £ioutli Canterbury at Timaru. Mr S. M. Cassidy was appointed manager of the team. The invitation to all hockey players from the St. Stephen’s Men’s Hookey Club to attend the lecture by Mr W. H. Rogers (president of the Canterbury Association) was accepted. It was decided to invite two senior, one junior, one third grade, and one schoolboy team to visit Ashburton from Christchurch. The action of the Methven Club in arranging a five-a-side tournament was approved. The meeting ended after a discussion on some interesting interpretations "from the New Zealand Hockey Association Bulletin had taken place. DRAW FOR SATURDAY. The draw for men’s hockey matches to be played on Saturday is as follows: Senior Grade—St. Stephen’s v. Baring Square, at 1.30 p.m. (Messrs E. Davidson and A. G. McHardy); St. Andrew’s v. Ashburton, at 2.45 p.m. (Messrs E. M. Gabites and A. G. McHardy) . Junior Grade—St. Andrew’s v, Baring Square, at 1.30 p.m. (Mr W. B. Thomas); St. Stephen’s v. Tinwald, at 2.45 p.m. (Mrf J. Wylie).
