BRITAIN AND THE FREE STATE^ AFRICAN MEDIATION FAILS. (United Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 4. It is disclosed that Mr Tewater and two others of the South African delegation to the World Economic Conference informally attemped to settle the economic dispute between Britain and the Irish Free State, and met Mr de Valera and Mr Connolly. They failed, Mr de Valera refusing to accept Mr Tielman Roos as chairman of the proposed Land Annuities Tribunal and insisting on a non-Empire chairman. — Times Cable.
