TEN DEGREES OF FROST A frost of 10 degrees intensity was recorded at the Domain weather station this morning, compared with nine degrees yesterday morning. This is the most severe frost registered since May 19. Bright sunshine prevailed to-day but a keen wind blew from the southwest, veering later more toward the north-west.

The barometer reading at 9 o'clock this morning was 30.4 inches compared with 29.94 inches yesterday morning. Extreme shade temperatures yesterday and last night were 42.6 degrees and 28 degrees, while .the recordings for the previous 24 hours were 42.8 degrees and 29 degrees. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference ; Pressure has risen considerably over the South'Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand, but a cyclonic depression is still located over the North Tasman Sea, the centre being near Norfolk Island. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:

Light to moderate variable winds, with southerly to easterly prevailing. Weather mainly fine with cold. Temperature, some severe inland frosts still likely and in places fogs. Seas, a considerably .swell but decreasing.
