A message .from Bulolo (New Guinea) states that Patrolman' Mack and .a party of New Guinea police, who were pursuing escaped prisonous, were attacked by other natives. These natives had already killed the escapees and thought the police were a punitive expedition to avenge this crime. The natives were routed and given a sharp lesson, 'although during the scrimmage four arrow.s struck Mack 'and a police boy was hit. The wounds arc not serious.
