THE WEATHER
A BRIGHT WEEK-END. There was bright, warm weather throughout the week-end, the temperature yesterday reaching 64.9 degrees and on Saturday 71.1 degrees. The lowest reading on Saturday night was 00 degrees and last night it was degrees. There were cool breezes on both days and this was the case again today. The wind was from the south today. Barometric readings at 9 o clock yesterday morning and this morning showed small chauge, being 29.69 inches and 29,66 inches .respectively TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:General inference:A depression has passed east of New Zealand and an intense anti-cvclone has developed over the Tasinan Sea. The tropical cyclone in the New l Hbrides is apparently moving southwards The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate to fresh but decreasing southerly winds. Weather fine, cold night temperatures, with some frosts, but pleasant day. Seas rather rough with a southerly swell, but decreasing.
