PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
CANTERBURY TRADES UNIONS FORMATION DECIDED UPON (Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A decision to form a Provincial Council of Trade Unions, as proposed by the Industrial Conference last year, was reached at a largely attended meeting of the executives of Canterbury Unions yesterday. The meeting adopted a constitution and set up a committee of seven to bring down rules and aprnoach individual unions who have not _ yet identified themselves with the unification scheme. The most important clause adopted makes it compulsory for affiliated unions to submit all claims for industrial agreements to the council before any action is taken h\ unions. In addition, the council reserves the right to have representatives at all conferences or conciliation councils when industrial agreements are being considemd.
