TURNBULL LIBRARY.

CONTROL BY TRUSTEES URGED. (Special to the -'Guardian ") WELLINGTON, March 14. Professor Waldo H. Dunn (Professor of English literature at the University of Wooster, Ohio, and author of a number of biological works), leaves on Thursday for England and America. He has been six months in New Zealand writing a biography of Sir Robert Stout. Professor Dunn expressed the opinion that the Tnrnbull library was one "of the most valuable in the world, and added: "A thing I should like to impress on the public of New Zealand is that the Turnbull collection is not like an ordinary library, but contains rare books —books which cannot bo found outside the world's greatest centres. If this library were in America, it would be placed in charge of a competent board of trustees, real book lovers, and enthusiasts, who would endeavour to keep the general public carefully informed as to its needs and possibilties. I. should recommend that steps be taken to form such a board of trustees." , He had no doubt that the library would attract a number of his fellow countrymen to the Dominion to use some of its treasures.
