THE SOUTHERN CROSS
RETURN ACROSS THE TASMAN. MANY SEEKING PASSAGES. (Special to the "Guardian.") DUNEDIN, March 14. Although a fare of £250 has been asked, many applications have been received for passages on the Southern Cross on the westward flight across the Tasman. However, Mr J. Pereival, who made the eastward crossing on the recent trip from Australia, has been selected as passenger in appreciation of his services to the Kingsford-Smith party on the tour. The latest plans are that the Southern Cross will reach Ninety Mile Beach on March 25 or 26,. and await favourable wind reports from New Zealand and Australian meteorologists. The flight from Australia to England and back is planned for August, and already four seats have been booked at a fee of £6OO. The trip is still indefinite, as none of the applicants have signed up. One intending passenger is a woman, but Sir Charles is doubtful whether she can be carried. Eight passengers are to be taken on the flight to England. ■
