Opposition to the proposal to raise the rate "of exchange was expressed by a vote of 12 to 11 at a meeting representative of the Farmers' Union, stock firms, and allied institutions. A large number refrained from voting. The meeting, which was convened by the Farmers' Union to discuss remedies for the depression, heard Mr C. A. Wilkinson in committee expound a scheme for the relief of farmers. A committee was appointed to investigate the. proposals.
