WATER SUPPLY LOAN.

APPROVED BY RATEPAYERS. A VERY LIGHT POLL. Of 1970 people entitled to vote on the question of whether the Ashburton Borough Council should proceed to raise a. loan of £2300 for high pressure water supply extension purposes, only 275 exercised the right when the poll was taken yesterday. The loan was sanctioned by 196 votes to 79, There are seven declaration votes to he investigated and counted at a later date. Details of the voting are as follow: Council HampChambers. stead. Ttl.

Polling ceased at 7 o'clock, and as the voting was so light the result had been declared by the returning officer (Mr W. Patterson) before 7.15 o'clock. The official count was made this morning, when the voting was announced to have been as follows: For the loan 202 Against the loan ... 80 There were no informal votes.
