WRESTLING.
WALKER DEFEATS DEMETRAL. AUCKLAND, August 1. A professional wrestling contest between George Walker and Harry Demetral ended in the sixth .round in favour of Walker. Up till then each man had secured a fall, Walker being successful in the third with a jack-knife hold, while Demetral evened in the fifth with a Boston Crab submission fall. Matters then became fairly lively, each man being thrown through the ropes. Demetral hurled Walker through four times, causing the inspector of police to have a Avord with the referee. While this consultation was going on Demetral caught hold of Walker's head and brought him over the ropes back into the ring with a flying mare. Walker regained his feet and threw Demetral, gaining the deciding fall with a body press. Demetral at once jumped to his feet, gesticulating wildly,, and commenced to argue with, the referee. It was some seconds before he could be pacified, the spectators hooting. Demetral stated in the dressing-room subsequently that he was under the impression that the referee had awarded him a fall when he hauled Wfdker back into the ring, and consequently offered no resistance to Walker. The referee denied tapping Demetral on the back. At all events, it was an unsatisfactory ending. MUIR DEFEATS WILSON. WELLINGTON!, August 1.
