COMMENT ON TRIAL SELECTIONS (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) • LONDON, June 12. The omission of Chapman is the mosi> surprising feature of the trial teams, which the "Daily Telegraph" attributes to the selectors' desire to give Jardine a chance of proving his mettle. The selectors know all there is to be known about Chapman. "News-Chronicle" says that everybody will miss' Chapman's name. The selectors' task must have been rather difficult and delicate, but some selectors do not seem to go out of their way to look for trouble.' "The Times'-' cricketing editor says that notable omissions are Chapman, Robins and Tate. Keeton and Paynter thoroughly deserve nlaces. Woolley's selection is interesting. Apparently Jardine will be England's captain. AVERAGES IN BRITAIN. O'CONNOR. AND LARWOOD LEAD. (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, June 12.
