William Powell is featured once more as the amateur detective, Philo Vance. It is held to be just as thrilling as "The Canary Murder Case" and "The Greene Murder Case," seen here some time ago. BAPTIST CHURCH LECTURE.

An educational lecture entitled, "Round the World in 80 Minutes" will be given by the Rev. E. W. Bafts in the Baptist Church to-morrow eVening. Mr Batts recently returned from a world tour, which included the Near East, and covered about 50,000 miles. Fifteen different countries were visited, including Syria, Palestine and Transjordania.

"A.NICHT Wl' BURNS." The Ashburton Scottish Society will hold a Burns night in the Orange Hall to-morrow evening. The Rev. T. VI . Armour, of Christchurch,,will give an address on Robert Burns, and Burns songs will be sung by well-known vocalists.
