The storm over the Mungana mining inquiry broke in the Queensland Parliament when the Attorney-General (Mr MacGroarty) moved for the introduction of a Bill to amend the Crown Remedies Act of 1875 He stated that the reason why Mr E G, Theodore had not been criminally . prosecuted was that the evidence given before the Roval Commission could not be used in criminal proceedings. ±ne Government was now introducing legislation to amend the law so that civil action may be taken. " The Bill was read the first time.
