DOMINION PRODUCE. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. (Special to the “Guardian.”) WELLINGTON, August 25. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated August 23 from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London. Tallow.—Better demand for spot mutton at last rates quoted. Mixed made 6d per cwt more, but little available. No auction will be held until next week. C.i.f. prices are unchanged Hemp.—Manila market is easier with more offering, but fair business has been done. “K” grade, August-Octo-ber and October-December shipments, have been sold at £2O los. Sisal. Th African sisal market is quiet and prices are easier. No. 1 fair average quality afloat and early shipment sold at £-•*- ss, with sellers of any shipment until the end of the year at £2l los. No. 2 is neglected at about 20s lower. Good marks, both grades, are worth 5s more. For sisal tow the demand is idle. Nominal value of No. 1 £l7 ,10s and No. 2 £ls 10s. Mexican sisal interests have reported further sales of 'S,UU J bales to America at last prices. Ine market is quiet. Good white, AugustOctober shipment, is quoted at £23 lUs. New Zealand market is idle and prices are unchanged*. No first hand sales have been reported. Wool.'—The Bradford market s quiet, only . hand-to-mouth. business being done. Merino tops quotations are firm, but crossbreds are a little uncertain. „ , Fruit—The market for apples is very c low. Current prices for New /ealands are: Dougherty 8s to 10s, Stumers os 6d to 9s, Tasmanian Sturmers 3s bd to 6s, bulk 4s 6d. . , I>gs.— The market is quiet and unsold°stocks are heavy. English 17s to 18s, Irish 14s to 15s, Danish Belgian and Dutch 12s to 14s 9d, French 11s to 14s, Lithuanian, Chinese and Polish /s 6d to 11s 6d per long 100.
DAIRY PRODUCE QUOTATIONS IN LONDON. The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board has received the following market report from its London office, dated August 22, 1930: — Butter. New Zealand. —Salted 127 s to 1325, exceptionally 1345; unsalted, 146 s to 150 s; first, whey, 1245; second whey, 122 s Australian. —Salted, 128 sto 1325, unsalted, 134 s to 1365. Argentine.—Unsalted, 123 s to 130 s. Irish.— Cream, salted, 128 s to 130 s; unsalted, 1345. Danish.—l36s f.0.b., 144 s spot. Dutch.—Unsalted. 140 s to 1425. Esthonian.—l32s to 1355. Latvian.—l3os to 1345. Siberian.—l29s to 130 s. Ukranian. —'130 s. Polish. —110 s to 124 s The market is dull. The New Zealand retail price is unchanged at Is sd. The Danish retail price was reduced to Is 6d last week. Cheese. . New Zealand.—White, 74s to 765; coloured, 80s to 81s. Canadian.—White, 80s to Sis ; coloured, 82s to 83s; c.i.f., 765. Deliveries of Canadian were 6535 boxes; in store, 150,292 boxes. English.—Finest farmers, 100 s to 106 s. . The market is slow. Retail prices are unchanged.
