MILLERTON MINE IDLE

UNION ALLEGES VICTIMISATION. (Per Press Association.) WESTPORT, August 25. As a result of a stop-work meeting held by the Millertoii Miners’ Union yesterday in connection with the dismissal of an employee, which the members claim to be a case of victimisation, the colliery will remain idle until such time as the matter is satisfactorily adjusted. Four men ceased work as a protest against the unfair distribution of overtime. Three of the party were reinstated after interviewing the manager, but the fourth was refused employment and his decision precipitated the trouble. It is understood that the West Coast Miners’ Council will be asked to deal with the matter in the near future.
