LATE MR E.T. OLDS.

RUGBY UNION’S SYMPATHY. A motion: of sympathy with the family and relatives of the late Mr E. T. Olds, of Oamaru, and formerly of Ashburton, who died of injuries sustained in an accident at Oamaru yesterday moraine. was passed by the Management Committee of ton Rugby Union last evening. Mr Olds, who is survived by his wife and two young children, was a nopular official of the Post and Telegraph Department, being employed as a postman. He collided with a baker’s delivery van yesterday morning, suffering terrible head injuries. A pathetic incident of the tragedy was that Mrs Olds witnessed the accident from their home on the hill, but did not know that her husband was involved until she was notified by the doctor. Mr Olds was a keen Rugby enthusiast, and was one of the founders, of the Allenton Football Glpb. . Going to Oamaru, he maintained his interest in this sport, and was a .member of .the North Otago Rugby Union. He visited his parents at Ashburton during last week-end, accompapying the North Otago representative team on the occasion .q£ the match against i the County team on Saturday.
