ESCAPE FROM PRISON.

CONVICT IN A BASKET. NOTE TO THE CHIEF WARDER. PARIS, Augiist 13. The chief warder in a prison at Lyons was surprised, to receive a note from a former convict reading: “I hope you will forgive me, sir, but I could not breathe in my cell. That compelled me to leave. I will return my prison clothes in due course.” Inquiries showed that the convict had escaped in a basket of linen which had been collected by a man in a motor-car.
