WOMEN CONFER.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS FUTURE PLANS DISCUSSED. (United Press Association—Copyright.) HONOLULU, August 15. After outlining the history of the women's movement at last night's session of the Women's Pan-Pacific Conference, Dr. Sweet suggested the' part that women might play in' international relationships. She said that peace, to be permanent, must be founded on the right conditions— knowledge of the needs of others and their problems, appreciation of each other's work, and contributions to the solution of the world's problems. Referring to the future of the .fanPacific Women's Conference she reviewed the possibility of working under other organisations, and said that u a demand existed for the type ot work that the periodical women s conferences could compass, then they must depend upon their own organisation for a continuance. In the discussion which followed leaders of the delegations from all countries expressed their strong sense of the yalue of the contacts made and the knowledge gained Dame Rachel Crowdy said that she had been sceptical before coming to ihe conference. She bad been eager to meet the delegates, but had been doubtful of the necessity of a conference separate from the men. She now felt, however, that the conference was of extraordinary value. Until conditions of work and life for women m all countries were more stable, valuable contributions would be given at the Women's Conference by women not likely to attend a conference Consideration of future plans will be continued next week. Great interest was manifested tms morning in a paper describing the conditions and protective provisions, especially for children, in the cinema industry, which was read by Miss Marion Mel, of the Central Casting Corporationfi Hollywood. Mrs Pepe, chairman of a special .Hawaiian inquiry, also read a paper on the cinema as an educational and recreational factor in community lite.
