BIRTH CONTROL.

LAMBETH CONFERENCE DECISION ATTACKED IX LONDON PAPER. 'United Press Association— Copyright.) LONDON, August 17. The "Sunday Express' features an article by Mr James Douglas attacking the Lambeth Conference. The article says: "It is strange that the conference, while rigidly mediaeval on the subject of divorce, should be loose and lax on a far more dangerous problem, namely, birth control. It has delivered a fatal blow to marriage, motherhood and fatherhood, and has paved the way to race suicide. REFERENCES IN THE PULPIT. VIGOROUS CATHOLIC PROTEST(Received This Day, 1 p.m.) LONDON, August 17. There were many pulpit references to the Lambeth Conference to-day. Canon Donaldson, at Westminster Abbey, described the report as one of the highest delivered since the Reformation. The Bishops had issued a noble statement that would enhance their moral, spiritual and social influence throughout the world and constitute a splendid text book for Christian teachers who were looking to Lambeth for vision and counsel. The bishops had bravely faced the burning question of birth control, and had given limited approval, while condemning our horrible neglect of sex education for children, in order to lift sex from the mire in which it had been laid lor generations. ' On the contrary, the rector of one citv church publicly, delivered to his congregation a message expressing abhorrence and entire repudiation of the lamentable sanction of the deadly sin of contraception. Father Wocjulock. of the Farm Street Roman Catholic Church, vigorously protested against the birth control resolution. He said Catholics recognised onlv self-control and abstinence .as lawful for the limitation of families.
