ANNUAL TOURNEYS HELD.

There was a large attendance of parents and others interested at the annual Rugby football and basketball tournaments for the primary schools of the County, held in the Ashburton Domain this morning. Some excellent matches in both classes were witnessed, and as there was a large entry from all parts of the County, it was nearly 1 o'clock before the finals were completed. The teachers from the various schools had the arrangements well in hand.

Results were as follow: — Rugby Senior Grade. First round —Borough B defeated East Ashburton B. Second round—Allenton A 8, Borough. B nil; East Ashburton A 12, Allenton B nil; Borough A 3, Convent nil; Borough C 5, Methven nil. Third round —Allenton A 12, East Ashburton A nil; Borough A defeated Borough C. Final—Borough A 3, Allenton A nil. . The winning team were: A. Kelly (captain), J. Smallbone, A. Gourdie, J. White, W. -Currie, C. Grindlay, C Gass. Rugby Junior Grade.
