TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. (From "Guardian," August 16, 1905.) Addington Market.—At the Addington sale yesterday the following sales were made on account of local farmers: Wethers, Executors late J. A. Mcllwraith (Rakaia), 28 at 21s 3d,, Mr J. T. Batty (Cairabrae), 60 merinos at 19s 3d, Mr T. L. Johnston (Launston), 30 merinos at 16s. Ewes, Mr L. White (Rakaia), 44 Shropshires at 245. Rangitata Gun Club—The Rangitata Gun Club held a shooting match on Thursday. The first match was the £SO handicap. There were 20 competitors and the contest resulted in a tie between Messrs Smith, Chambers, Rowell and Gardiner, who divided the prize money. The prize money for the second match, £B, was divided between Messrs Palmer, Coles and Cardinal. Messrs Rowell and Kimber were the j highest scores in the sweepstake. An inanimate bird match resulted in a tie between Messrs Cbskerie, Gardiner and Palmer. Sacred Concert.—Last night the Baring Square choir held a sacred concert in their school room in aid of the mission funds. The following contributed items:— Violin solos, Mr McClurg, and Miss W. Jones; vocal solos, Misses M. Rattray, Williams, Messrs Mars and Carson; cornet solo, Mr S. Jones. An instrumental quartette "Ave Maria" was rendered by Misses Jones 2), and Bonnington, and Mi* Undrill. Forks School.—At the Board of Education meeting yesterday the Appointment Committee reported that the Ashburton Forks School Committee had forwarded its resignation. It was decided to call for a fresh committee election.
